When I was on vacation I read 3 more books after I posted the first two!

In the Woods by Jana French

 

This book was honestly disappointing for me. It had a really fantastic murder mystery going for it with an incredibly intriguing past. I sped through this book just dying to know the answer to the past mystery just to be left with a "it will never be known" ending. The mystery they did solve was cool but my interest was in the past. Oh well.

Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich

  Accidental Billionaires was really good, but I already knew the story because I've seen the Social Network. Rarely do I find a movie better than a book, but in this case The Social Network was definitely better. They approached it from a much more intriguing angle and the actors were perfect for their parts. The book was still worth the read.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

  The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was suggested to me by my mom. She lovessssss this series so I thought I'd try it out. The first book was pretty slow for a while, but eventually got so good it was hard to put down. And unlike In the Woods, my answers were given to me and I was happy with it cause my completely random and out of the blue guesses ended up being right. Needless to say I was really proud of myself.

Those are all the books I have to update on today! My internship is going well and I'm already learning interesting things, so it is well worth my summer.

 

INTERNSHIP, BOO-YAH

Get an Internship!

Helllllo ladies and gents (by that I basically just mean Kristin and Andie), this intern is blogging to you from Athens, Greece! I haven't updated on a few things so I thought I'd at least get some in while I have a little time. 

As of this past week I have been hired as a Communications Intern at a not-for-profit economic agency! Better yet, I'm a PAID intern. I'll be working full time and it won't just be getting people coffee. Because it's a non-profit I will be given lots of work and get lots of real experience and it will look GREAT on my resume! 

I don't think this really counted as applying for an internship because I just sent my resume to my cousin who forwarded it to them. I didn't go through an extremely formal process or anything, but I'm completely thrilled to start working.

5/100 BOOKS READ!

So my plane ride here was a perfect time to get in some reading, so I actually read two books! One was really really short but I was still impressed with myself.

 

People have been raving about Water for Elephants for a while now, but I finally decided to read it so I can go and see the movie. It truly was a great story, I personally think people play it up a bit but I'm still so happy I read it.

 

For One More Day was an extremely short but very good book. I really love Mitch Albom's style of writing. His novels are usually very insightful and even when sad somehow are delightful and enlightening. It definitely has some great quotes in it just itching to be discussed and analyzed.

I'll update on my art class later, I just haven't taken the time to take photos of all of my art projects I did and I really want to share them on the blog! And I'll possibly put some Greece photos on here just for fun if I get some time. But that's all for now! :) 

 

Paper Towns by John Green

3/100 books read!

So today was an absolutely gorrrrrgeous day outside, so I set up a little spot in the backyard to get my tan on. While tanning I decided to work on my reading goal. I started and finished Paper Towns by John Green today. 

With my sidekick Gracie I read the book in about 8 hours or so. It was just okay. It was one of those books that are just made to be read while poolside... or grass-side in this case. I had already read Looking for Alaska by John Green before and I think that's why I didn't enjoy this story as much. He has a very distinct character type: a shy boy who is kind but safe who always is totally and completely obsessed with the absolutely gorgeous throw-caution-to-the-wind girl who will never really be able to love him back because they are so different.

Pros: It gives you some interesting things to think about and is insightful about humanity.

Con: He just needed to ditch all the side stories about Quentin's friends. They feel forced and take away from some beautiful aspects in my opinion.

Best part is this gave me the reading bug and I hope to read tons and tons now I'm free for summer! If you have any suggestions send them right on my way :)

Antique Shopping!

My goal of going antique shopping was completed today, which by the way is MY 20th BIRTHDAY!

Anyone who knows me knows my birthday is definitely the most important day of the year. It involves obnoxiously long countdowns, high expectations, and a great "nothing-can-bring-me-down" attitude. I'd love to thank all my wondeeerful friends for not only tolerating me but indulging my crazies.

So I thought I'd share some of the fun things Kristin and I encountered at the Antique mall :)

 So antique books are officially the most adorable things ever, I especially love the Babar books because Kristin and I are super crazy about elephants and actually plan to start a blog together called Elephant Chaos! (More on that later)

I will be returning for the lamps after I find a bedspread for next year because who knew that antique lamps are the most adorable things in the world?

Delayed Updates

I know I haven't been keeping up but I do have updated for the blog (EXCITING I KNOW!) I'm sure you've all been dying to see me complete more goals, and I may be going slowly but I surely haven't forgotten about them. 

Over Spring Break I knocked out two goals at once:

Go on a Spring Break trip.

Go on a road trip.

Our travels took us all around the absolutely wonderful state of Texas. We hit up two college towns and the beach, where I became Lobster Lindsay due to the lack of sun exposure I get where I live for college.

Our 7AM breakfast of bagels from Einstein Bros. that accidentally broke Andie's lent promise of no baked goods and changed the promise to cookies.

Lunch at Salt Lick BBQ, provided by my amazing boyfriend. The beginning of the trend of Food Network Only visits for the rest of our day.

This part of the trip reminds me that I got 1/10 photos with my boyfriend on 10 different occasions started:

Another stop in a college town with great chicken, Kristin's friend Gentry, and a hilarious and sweet visit with a Grandma.

At the beach I discovered that my new dream is to become a sand architect because let's be real, this castle is the bomb.

The boardwalk provided lots of SPRINGGG BREAKKKK entertainment.

Last update is that I spent 1 whole day without using a computer at all while on break! (1/5)

God Must Have Known

...that I had survived ALL of the month of February without even a drop of soda, because on March 1st the Coke machine granted me 2 for the price of 1. Yes, I completed one of my very big challenges! Now that February is over I am drinking soda again but the frequency has definitely decreased, so I would say that my goal was successful :)

In other news, my SPRING BREAK trip is officially PLANNED! Kristin, Andie, and I are going to the beach together. Road tripppp. We need to put together a CD of new jams so if you have any suggestions just holla. I'll put pictures on the blog afterwards.

Also, I have started planning a project with Kristin... a ROOMIE BLOG. One of my goals is to start a project and actually follow through (not including this one obviously) and our project is to start running an adorable blog together. The blog will be coming in the Fall of 2011 when we start rooming together again. If for some reason anyone other than Kristin actually reads this blog you should get excited and keep your eyes peeled for new info to come out about it.

My mother continues to resist my pressuring for red hair, so instead I got a pink feather in my hair to satisfy my craving for something new until then.

Lost without LOST

I am both very happy and very sad to say that I completed LOST. I know a lot of people weren't so satisfied with its ending, but I personally didn't have a problem with it. I just accepted it and loved it as it was. Of course, there are always going to be some questions left, but they answered enough for me.

Top 5 LOST Couples (as told by Lindsay Weasley)

1. Desmond and Penny

Their relationship was the one I ended up rooting for the hardest. It was amazing to see Desmond come around to the realization he was a coward and do whatever he had to do to be with Penny. And they named their son Charlie so naturally I almost cried because it was so adorable.

2. Jin/Sun

This couple won my heart over by the end. In the beginning I absolutely hated Jin hardcore. He pissed me off and was just so rude, and then there was a point when I was mad at Sun for cheating on Jin. In the end they both realized each other's faults and redeemed their relationship. They also win for most beautiful made-me-wanna-cry death scene.

3. Claire/Charlie

Okay, so pretty much they're in my tops because Charlie is the sweetest boyfriend in the whole world. Well, basically he's my favorite character and even when I'm mad at him I love him. I love how sweet he is with Claire and Aaron. They have ups and downs and I wouldn't say that they were the biggest or most dynamic relationship, but they were the ones I loved watching in the early seasons.

4. Juliet/Sawyer

I loved that Sawyer found a woman who could finally tie him down and tame him a bit. They also made me fall in love with them during the finale:

Juliet: "Would you like to get coffee sometime?"

Sawyer: "I'd love to, but the machine just ate my dollar and I only have one left."

Needless to say I laughed so hard I was crying.

5. Kate/Sawyer

Before Juliet and Sawyer's relationship I was allllll about Kate/Sawyer. Two sexy rebels? Part of me still feels they were made for each other if they had been in the real world together the first time Kate left the Island. I could imagine Kate and Sawyer running from the law together and being happy to have each other for company. They also are just entertaining because they have hilarious commentary. Plus... Cage sex. Nuff said.
